Largest study on maternal mortality in sex workers from suicide in low- and middle-income countries

Ian Bennett, MD, PhD and co-authors have released the largest study ever to document deaths in pregnancy and postpartum of sex workers from suicide. Published in Global Mental Health, Suicide During Pregnancy As A Major Contributor To Maternal Suicide Among Female Sex Workers In Eight Low- And Middle-Income Countries: A Community Knowledge Approach Investigation is a first of its kind study highlighting the need for targeted interventions as social support within this vulnerable population.




New award: National Center for Dissemination, Implementation, and Sustainment

Mental health providers face significant challenges implementing effective interventions with light touch or short-term training. The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration awarded a new National Center for Mental Health: Dissemination, Implementation, and Sustainment (MHDIS) to Stanford’s Center for Dissemination and Implementation. MHDIS will build the capacity to select and implement evidence-supported practices and programs, sharing pragmatic, accessible guidance through implementation science-based targeted and intensive technical assistance.
