Jill Locke, PhD, an associate professor and former co-director of the SMART Center, has received a grant in the amount of $3,999,987 to conduct a project titled “Testing the Efficacy of the Helping Educational Leaders Mobilize Evidence (HELM) Implementation Strategy.”
Mental Health Technology Center Network comes to an end

The Northwest MHTTC which was part of a national Mental Health Technology Transfer Center (MHTTC) Network ended on September 29. The MHTTC network, funded by the Substance Abuse Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), aimed to accelerate the dissemination and implementation of effective interventions for mental health prevention, treatment, and recovery.

Milestones for the Autism and Developmental Disabilities Track

The Autism and Developmental Disabilities Track of the UW School of Medicine’s Psychology Internship Program was established in 2020. After expanding from one to two residents annually in 2022, we have welcomed and trained eight psychology residents since our launch and we are delighted to welcome the first resident from our track, Daina Tagavi, PhD, to become faculty in our department!

The UW Housestaff Quality and Safety Committee (HSQC) has selected our very own PGY2s, Rob Chen, MD, PhD, and John Eun, MD, PhD, as members of their inaugural Ambassador's Program. They'll join other ambassadors in monthly meetings to help advance quality improvement (QI) work in the department, represent our education program, and interact with hospital leaders.

Co-edited by Alysha Thompson, PhD and Shannon Simmons, MD, MPH, this multi-year effort reviews multiple aspects of inpatient psychiatric hospital (IPH) and acute mental health services for youth.
Research on students and smartphones awarded most impactful paper

At Ubicomp 2024 in Melbourne, Australia, the paper StudentLife: Assessing mental health, academic performance, and behavioral trends of college students using smartphones received the 10-year Impact Award celebrating most impactful paper since Ubicomp 2014!

Congratulations to the SMART Center, recipient of the 2024 School Social Work Advocate of the Year award from the Washington Association of School Social Workers (WASSW)!
