Family and Caregiver Training and Support Program (FACTS)

The Family and Caregiver Training and Support (FACTS) Program is a hub for evidence-informed, reliable information, resources, and skills training specifically for families, caregivers or anyone supporting an adult loved one who is living with a serious mental health condition.

Main Challenge

The experience of having a serious mental health condition can be scary and isolating for patients and their loved ones. Reliable information can be hard to find and misconceptions about mental health can reinforce stigma and further isolation. But it doesn’t have to be this way.

The Family and Caregiver Training and Support (FACTS) Program is an inclusive, collaborative program where patients, families, caregivers and clinicians learn with and from each other how to best support patients and one another.

Our Approach

  • Provide psychoeducation and skill building courses, evidence informed and reliable information, and tailored resources for patients, families and caregivers as well as the healthcare professionals who care for them.
  • Leverage the expertise of UW Medicine’s clinicians and researchers and the lived experiences of patients, families and caregivers into a real-world, training and skill building program for the entire care team.
