I am an epidemiologist and Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the University of Washington. My research primarily focuses on improving mental health outcomes throughout the life course to support family wellbeing and thriving in low- and middle-income settings, with emphasis on: 1. men’s/father’s mental health and parenting skills, 2. digital mental health interventions to support families affected by early psychosis, 3. integrating perinatal mental health services into maternal-child health care. Current projects are based in East and West Africa. My work utilizes methods ranging from user-centered design of digital mental health interventions to advanced epidemiologic and statistical methods.
I recently joined the faculty at UW and am the new program director for the general residency program. I am excited to be here! I have been working in graduate medical education and have been a program director for over 14 years. Although my major focus is graduate medical education, I am also passionate about patient safety, quality improvement, and healthcare risk management. Additionally, I have a background in basic research with expertise in virology, microbiology, and immunology.
I am a perinatal and addiction psychiatrist and Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. My main area of interest and expertise is substance use disorders in the perinatal period as well as perinatal and reproductive psychiatry more generally. I am also passionate about doing my part to address inequities in healthcare.

I am an Associate Professor in the UW Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the University of Washington. I am currently on faculty at Harborview Medical Center on the inpatient psychiatry service. My specific area of expertise is in the evaluation and treatment of psychiatric disorders across the female life cycle, including psychiatric conditions through pregnancy and postpartum period. I am passionate about helping and supporting moms navigate challenges related to reproductive losses, pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period.

I am a perinatal psychiatrist and Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences.
I earned my medical degree from Bangalore Medical College, India, and completed a psychiatry residency in St. John’s Medical College, India. I completed a second residency in Psychiatry with a focus on women’s mental health and integrated care from the University of Washington, and a fellowship in Primary Care in Psychiatry.
I also earned a Master’s in Public Health from the University of Washington School of Public Health. I am board certified with the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
