With a generous gift from the Erick Shirley Foundation for Mental Health and in partnership with colleagues at the Allen School of Computer Science and Engineering at UW, we are embarking on the development of a unique Simulation Training Laboratory that will utilize state-of-the-art Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology to enhance the training of medical students, psychiatrists, psychologists, and other mental health professionals.

After a competitive internal search, four new associate program directors (APDs) will be joining the team in July 2025.
This restructuring transforms our residency program from a site-based model to a centralized model where APDs will be responsible for a specific cohort of residents (e.g., PGY-1s). This way residents will know who their designated APD is regardless of rotation site.

The Psychiatry Residency Training Program directed by Jacqueline Hobbs, MD, PhD, had another successful Match this year. More than 60 faculty members and residents reviewed over 1,400 applications and conducted more than 150 interviews. We couldn’t have done this without you and we are extremely grateful to everyone for your contributions to recruiting this outstanding residency class of 2029.
