Two faculty receive awards at ACLP meeting in Miami

Two faculty members were honored with awards at ACLP 2024: Lydia Chwastiak, MD, MPH received the Wayne Katon Research Award for her work studying psychopathology and the medically ill. This award was renamed in 2015 in the spirit and memory or Wayne Katon, MD, a dedicated clinical researcher and pioneer in collaborative care. Another honoree was Anna Ratzliff, MD, PhD who received the Don L. Lipsitt Award for Achievement in Collaborative Care. This award recognizes excellence and innovation in the integration of mental health with other medical care. Congratulations to both!


Joseph Becker Award for Outstanding Research Achievement

We’re pleased to announce that the winner of this year's Joseph Becker Research Award is Emma Parrish, MS, a psychology resident who’s part of the General Adult Track. Mentored by Sarah Kopelovich, PhD, the objective of Emma’s research is to evaluate effectiveness of a brief CBT for psychosis intervention on psychological recovery, cognitive flexibility, and progress.


Class of six selected for prestigious Webb Fellowship

Congratulations to Brittany Goldstein, MD, one of six new recipients of the 2024-2025 Webb Fellowship! The Academy of Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry (ACLP) created the William Webb Fellowship Program to foster the career development and leadership potential of advanced psychiatry residents and C-L Psychiatry fellows at an early stage in their career.

The UW Housestaff Quality and Safety Committee (HSQC) has selected our very own PGY2s, Rob Chen, MD, PhD, and John Eun, MD, PhD, as members of their inaugural Ambassador's Program. They'll join other ambassadors in monthly meetings to help advance quality improvement (QI) work in the department, represent our education program, and interact with hospital leaders.

Milestones for the Autism and Developmental Disabilities Track

The Autism and Developmental Disabilities Track of the UW School of Medicine’s Psychology Internship Program was established in 2020. After expanding from one to two residents annually in 2022, we have welcomed and trained eight psychology residents since our launch and we are delighted to welcome the first resident from our track, Daina Tagavi, PhD, to become faculty in our department!



Mental Health Technology Center Network comes to an end

The Northwest MHTTC which was part of a national Mental Health Technology Transfer Center (MHTTC) Network ended on September 29. The MHTTC network, funded by the Substance Abuse Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), aimed to accelerate the dissemination and implementation of effective interventions for mental health prevention, treatment, and recovery.


2025 PRITE Fellowship Awardee

Congratulations to Megan Lee, MD on being awarded the 2025 PRITE Fellowship! This two-year fellowship from the American College of Psychiatrists is awarded to only two residents per year. Megan will serve on the PRITE Editorial Board and participate in the question writing process for the annual PRITE exam.
