David D. Luxton, PhD served as co-chair of the Artificial Intelligence Standards Committee that established the new IEEE Standard for Transparent Human and Machine Agency Identification. Published this past month, the international standard improves transparency in the identification of the agency behind media or communications, such as machine intelligence, a human being, or a combination of entities. The team developed standardized visual and audio indicators designed for global adoption, with the potential to protect individuals and society from the risks of deepfakes while also offering significant benefits to both industry and the broader public.
