Department News | April 30, 2025

Department Chair Jürgen Unützer, MD, MPH, MA contributed to a large multi-national metaanalysis of collaborative care for depression that was recently published in JAMA Psychiatry. The paper, “Effective Components of Collaborative Care for Depression in Primary Care: An Individual Participant Data Meta-Analysis,” assess which components of collaborative care are the biggest drivers of its effectiveness in reducing symptoms of depression in primary care.

This very large study – 20,046 patients participated – was featured in the March 26 episode of JAMA Psychiatry’s Author Interviews Podcast. Dr. Unützer represented the international research team and presented the findings in a thoughtful and engaging conversation with host Dr. John Torres. You can listen to the episode here (as well as on Spotify and Apple Podcasts).
