UW PACC update

Department news | November 30, 2018

The UW Psychiatry and Addictions Case Conference (UW PACC) wrapped up its ninth quarter in September, 2018. This free, weekly videoconference series expands the mental health and addictions care capacity of health care professionals across Washington State through educational presentations and case review. It also helps train our ICTP and Addiction Fellows who participate regularly, make at least two presentations, and present at least two cases. This year, the second Thursday of the month has a didactic focused on opioids with the goal of helping providers develop a working knowledge of opioid treatment.

Some quick facts (July, 2016 through October, 2018):

  • Attendees from 23 WA State counties, 6 states and New Zealand
  • 112 sessions
  • 114 cases presented by 62 providers
  • 463 participating individuals
  • 4,812 hours of educational content

UW PACC is led by addiction psychiatrists Mark Duncan, MD, and Rick Ries, MD, and clinical psychologists Kari Stephens, PhD, and Barbara McCann, PhD, and is supported by Cara Towle, RN, MSN, Betsy Payn, MA, PMP, Diana Roll, Niambi Kanye, and Rande Gray. The program is funded and supported by the Washington State Legislature through the Safety-Net Hospital Assessment, working to expand access to psychiatric services throughout the State of Washington.
