Sara Webb, PhD, was recently elected to serve on the UW Council of Research and Graduate Education. As part of this council, Dr. Webb will study and make recommendations on issues bearing on the welfare of the university on behalf of university faculty.

The Council of Research and Graduate Education provides guidance on new initiatives to various entities that impact research or graduate education, such as the Human Subjects Division, Office of Animal Welfare, Environmental Health and Safety, and the Office of Research Information Systems. They are also occasionally called upon to provide guidance to the Dean on specific issues. The Council works to codify policies for graduate students and also seeks nominations for and selects the Science in Medicine lecturers each year. With her understanding of the challenges and concerns of the faculty and her familiarity with the area of council responsibility we know that Dr. Webb will be an excellent addition.
