We are pleased to announce that the Harborview Medical Executive Board approved the appointment of Paul Borghesani, MD, PhD, to serve as Acting Chief of Psychiatry at Harborview Medical Center effective July 1, 2024. Mark Snowden, MD, MPH, current Chief of Psychiatry, will work closely with Dr. Borghesani to pass on his decades of wisdom and to ensure a smooth transition.

Dr. Borghesani completed his MD-PhD in the Harvard/MIT Program of Health Sciences and Technology with his thesis work in development neurobiology and went on to complete his psychiatry residency at UW. Dr. Borghesani currently works as a psychiatrist at Harborview Medical Center, serves as the Medical Director for the Psychiatric Emergency Services, and is the Director of Psychiatry Clerkships for medical students where he coordinates clinical education in psychiatry across the WWAMI (WA, WY, AK, MT and ID) region. Dr. Borghesani is exceptionally well qualified to serve as Acting Service Chief and we are thrilled he is willing to take on this important role. The Harborview Medical Executive Board will organize a search committee for the selection of a permanent Chief over the coming year.
