King County has procured a 1.6 acre site adjacent to the Harborview Medical Center campus to support the growth, consolidation, and colocation of Harborview’s behavioral health services, which are a critical source of inpatient and outpatient behavioral health services in Washington State. In doing so, this exciting new facility will provide an opportunity for Harborview to deepen its already significant role as part of the state’s mental and behavioral healthcare safety net.
The development of a new building at Ninth & Alder will allow Harborview to address structural challenges, as well as provide an opportunity to transform Harborview’s ability to provide integrated behavioral health and medical care in new and innovative ways. The new building will provide a wonderful opportunity for us to continue our partnership with HMC, providing state-of-the art care to some of the most vulnerable populations in our community, training and inspiring the next generation of health and mental health professionals, and conducting cutting edge research to find better treatments for tomorrow.
