We are pleased to announce that Nadejda Bespalova, MD has agreed to serve as the new director of our Psychiatry Clerkship Program. Dr. Bespalova first joined the department in 2019 as a fellow in the Addiction Psychiatry program and is now an assistant professor who specializes in substance use disorders and mental health in the perinatal period.
In this position, Dr. Besplaova will oversee all clinical training in psychiatry at the UW School of Medicine, including the department’s 6-week required course and all clinical electives occurring throughout the WWAMI region (Washington, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana and Idaho). Dr. Bespalova will also be maintaining and developing training sites, managing learning environment concerns, and working to foster equitable, informative, and fair educational practices. This role is a vital part of the department’s education mission, and we are excited about the expertise, leadership, and passion that Dr. Bespalova brings to our team!
