Michael Schrift to develop neuropsychiatry, neuromodulation and geropsychiatry programs

We’re excited to welcome Michael Schrift, DO, MA, FANPA, in his new position as Medical Director of Neuropsychiatry and Brain Health starting January 2, 2020. He joins us from the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago where he was the Division Director of Geriatric Psychiatry and Neuropsychiatry in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. Dr. Schrift was also the director of fellowship training programs in Geriatric Psychiatry and in Neuropsychiatry as well as director of the neuromodulation program at Northwestern University. Prior to that, he was the Director of the Behavioral Neurology and Neuropsychiatry Program at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
 
Dr. Schrift completed his fellowship training in Neuropsychiatry and Behavioral Neurology and has been involved in the academic and clinical teaching of this subject area to medical students, psychiatry and neurology residents and fellows for more than 25 years. In addition, he has graduate training in Neuropsychology and Bioethics, a master’s degree in Bioethics and an Adjunct Associate Professor appointment in Bioethics and Health Policy at the Medical College of Wisconsin, where he has taught Neuroethics. Dr. Schrift is Board Certified in Psychiatry by ABPN, with added qualifications in Geriatric Psychiatry and Brain Injury Medicine. He is also Board Certified in Behavioral Neurology and Neuropsychiatry. He is a fellow of the American Neuropsychiatric Association.
 
Dr. Schrift will be working with the Department Chair, Clinical Service Chiefs and the Vice Chair for Education to develop and coordinate the department’s clinical and education programs focused on Neuropsychiatry and Brain Health. Dr. Schrift will also spend time as an attending physician at UWMC, Northwest Campus and Harborview Medical Center.
