After serving as Chief of the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Chief of Psychiatry at Seattle Children’s for five years, Larry Wissow, MD, MPH, will be stepping down at the end of this academic year. He will be staying on as a professor in the department focusing his work on improving access to behavioral health services in partnership with colleagues in primary care, and on reducing some of the inequities in access and outcomes that we have all been working so hard to address.
“I am enormously grateful for the huge efforts and many sacrifices my colleagues have made over these last five years,” said Dr. Wissow. “In the face of challenges none of us could have imagined, we have started numerous clinical programs, gotten any number of new research projects off the ground, cared for many more families, and been dedicated teachers in thriving training programs. Thanks for all that you have taught me and for the chance to work alongside you.”
Ray Hsiao, MD, has graciously agreed to serve as Chief of Psychiatry at Seattle Children’s during a transitional period starting on February 1. He will also be stepping into the role of Interim Chief of the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry in July. We will work with our colleagues at Seattle Children’s to launch a national search for a permanent new Division Chief later this spring. Please join us in supporting Dr. Hsiao as he takes on this new work, and in thanking Dr. Wissow for his contributions over the past five years.
