All UW Medicine employees (faculty and staff) are required to participate in the Office of Healthcare Equity’s EDI Foundational Training curriculum, which consists of five 90-minute synchronous training sessions with either a Subject Matter Expert or certified EDI Peer Trainer. Congratulations to Jonathan Orrala for being selected to participate in the Peer Trainer Program to become an EDI Peer Trainer.
Jonathan has led many facilitations and workshops around wellbeing, leadership development and how to incorporate psychological safety in the workplace. A lot of the sessions included education on equity and breaking down barriers to success, diversity in all of its facets, how to be more inclusive by introducing cultural intelligence topics and how to foster feelings of belonging.
“As a first-generation Latino, it’s my honor to be working towards a more equitable workforce,” Jonathan says. “Education and engagement around Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion is just the beginning.”
