Congratulations to Jesse Markman, MD, MBA, for becoming the new Associate Chief of Staff for Mental Health, VA Puget Sound Health Care System! Dr. Markman has served as Acting Associate Chief of Staff—Mental Health since June, 2018. During that time, the Mental Health Service has engaged in a number of different initiatives including the activation of a beautiful new Mental Health facility (Building 101) on the Seattle campus, implementation of a full model Dialectical Behavioral Therapy Program (soon to be at both divisions), and an expansion of telehealth services. Dr. Markman has also been heavily involved in the Electronic Health Record Modernization (EHRM) project at VA Puget Sound and he serves on the National Behavioral Health Council for this initiative.
Dr. Markman completed his residency training in Psychiatry at the University of Washington. He joined the VA Puget Sound in 2013 as a psychiatrist in the PTSD Outpatient Clinic and became the Director of Outpatient Mental Health at the Seattle Division in 2014. He is a skilled and experienced leader and mentor and he has served as one of VA Puget Sound’s Associate Training Directors for the UW Psychiatry Residency Training Program. We look forward to our continued partnership!
