In 2018, the U.S. military experienced the highest number of suici​des among active duty personnel in six years. A study led by UW Psychiatry researchers Kate Comtois, PhD, Amanda Kerbrat, MSW, Christopher DeCou, PhD, David Atkins, PhD, and Rick Ries, MD, found that caring texts to at-risk active duty military members can have positive effects.
