The UW Housestaff Quality and Safety Committee (HSQC) has selected our very own PGY2s, Rob Chen, MD, PhD, and John Eun, MD, PhD, as members of their inaugural Ambassador’s Program. They’ll join other ambassadors in monthly meetings to help advance quality improvement (QI) work in the department, represent our education program, and interact with hospital leaders.
“I think quality improvement should be the default, not the exception,” says Dr. Chen. “The idea of QI is to constantly be assessing for ways to improve patient care. While there is a formal process to implement QI in a way that is effective and efficient, the philosophy of QI is something we should all embrace in healthcare.”
“As a start,” Dr. Chen continues, “I recently received a grant to compile a compendium of pharmacological algorithms that are up to date, evidence-based, easy to use, and widely distributed, to help providers make the best choices possible for their patients.”
