The International Training and Education Center for Health (I-TECH) has announced Pamela Collins, MD, MPH, as their new Executive Director starting July 1, 2020.

I-TECH is a global network that works with local partners to develop skilled health care workers and strong national health systems in resource-limited countries. A center in the UW Department of Global Health, I-TECH promotes local ownership to sustain effective health systems.

“I am humbled and thrilled by the opportunity to join and lead the I-TECH community,” says Collins, “as it applies its depth of experience and readiness for opportunity to a rapidly changing global health landscape.”

A psychiatrist and mixed-methods researcher, Collins joined the University of Washington in 2018 as Director of the Global Mental Health Program, within the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences and the Department of Global Health. Prior to arriving at the UW, Collins spent eight years at the National Institute of Mental Health, where she was Director of the Office for Research on Disparities & Global Mental Health and the Office of Rural Mental Health Research.
