In response to our growing telehealth and digital health programs across many sections of the department, Brad Felker, MD, has been asked to lead a one-year initiative to examine our current involvement in Telehealth / Digital health care and to recommend some future directions in this area. A professor in the department with extensive expertise in behavioral health, primary care, and telehealth care, Dr. Felker currently serves as the Director of the Telemental Health Service VA Puget Sound.
“We have the potential to be the national leader in training, implementation, and research in tele-technologies,” says Felker “This assessment and exploration will reveal new possibilities for growth, collaboration, and the creation of new paths going forward. I am thrilled with this opportunity!”
In this role, Dr. Felker will focus on:
- Assessing ongoing telehealth / digital health projects in our clinical services, educational programs, and research programs across our major departmental sites
- Exploring what other academic psychiatry departments are doing in the area of telehealth / digital health care
- Making recommendations about opportunities to
- coordinate our existing telehealth efforts
- evolve existing programs
- develop / invest in new programs / technologies in telehealth and digital health.
Dr. Felker will be convening a small workgroup to help ensure our essential activities are captured across our direct clinical work, clinical consultation (provider-to-provider) programs, education and workforce development programs, and research.
