As our department has grown to include more than 1,400 faculty, staff, and trainees, our HR Team has been growing and evolving to meet the increased demand. Led by Associate Director of Human Resources Hope Angel, the team includes Fred Taylor, lead staff HR business partner; Rachel Llarenas and Yvonne Yan, staff HR coordinators; Marivic Ramirez, payroll analyst; Laurel Belton, lead faculty HR business partner; Jonathan Orrala, HR manager and faculty recruiter; and Patrick Olsen, faculty HR coordinator. We are also actively recruiting for a full-time, permanent faculty HR coordinator to further strengthen our efforts.
As our research footprint has expanded, so too has the need to expand our post-award team. To that end, the Research Operations Team recently welcomed two new grant managers – Katie Nowlin and Estefania (Stef) Loewer. They join our team of grant managers including Beth Azuma-Moy, Austin Campbell, Grace Kim, Belinda Sachs, Alex Stoller, Sara Suom, and Martyn Valenzuela, who have worked hard over the past 18 months to keep our post-award management afloat after the financial transition to Workday. Associate Director of Research Operations Alison Laing and Assistant Director Pam Collins lead the team and are available to answer any questions.
Our Finance Team is finally fully staffed as well. Please welcome our two new hires, both budget/fiscal analysts – Aly Geiger and Gabriel Guerra. We have also promoted Zeke Trosper into a program operations specialist role that will focus on higher-level trouble shooting, process improvement, creating training guides, and updating the department’s financial policies and procedures. The team is led by Department Financial Officer Heather Glansbeek with Finance Manager Binyam Abraham. The team also includes four fiscal specialists – Lisa Ostrander, Kathie Brooks, Kathie Ta, and Grace Lee as well as our student helper Jolie Bui.
It’s an exciting time in the department as we continue enhancing our support for staff and faculty.
