Alvaro J La Rosa, MD

Alvaro J. La Rosa, MD, is an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Washington Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. He completed his psychiatry residency at Loyola University Medical Center- where he served as a chief resident- and his consultation-liaison psychiatry/psychosomatic medicine fellowship at the University of Washington. He joined the clinician educator teaching faculty at the University of Washington upon completion of his fellowship training and was an attending psychiatrist on the inpatient psychiatric ICU service and the inpatient consultation-liaison psychiatry service at Harborview Medical Center from 2021 until 2023. In July 2023, he moved to the Puget Sound VA Healthcare system where he now works as an acute care psychiatrist in the Seattle VA Medical Center on the inpatient consultation-liaison psychiatry service, inpatient psychiatry service, and psychiatric emergency service. As of July of 2023, he began his role as one of three assistant directors for the consultation-liaison psychiatry/psychosomatic medicine fellowship at the University of Washington.  As of February of 2024, he began his role as medical director of inpatient psychiatry (7W) at the Seattle VA Medical Center. He is actively involved in psychiatry trainee education via didactic teaching on delirium, antipsychotics, and bipolar mania. When not at work, he enjoys spending time with his family in the Seattle area.
