Center for Behavioral Health and Learning

The Center for Behavioral Health and Learning (CBHL) is a new, six-story, 150 bed facility on the UWMC-Northwest campus. The Center is part of an ambitious new approach to caring for individuals living with serious mental illness in Washington.

This beautiful, modern building is increasing the region’s capacity to treat psychiatric patients and preparing the next generation of mental health professionals. It also offers patient- and family-centered care programs to help patients transition back to their communities.

CBHL houses a 25-bed geropsychiatry unit, a 75-bed long-term (90-180 days) civil commitment unit, and a 50-bed medical/surgical unit capable of caring for patients with behavioral health and medical needs. It also houses the Garvey Institute Center for Neuromodulation which provides electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) and transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) to both outpatients and inpatients.
