The University of Washington Department of Psychiatry and Child Study & Treatment Center (CSTC) sponsor a year-long postdoctoral fellowship in child and family clinical psychology. The goal of the fellowship is to hone clinical expertise in the practice of child and family psychology in an inpatient setting (group, individual and family therapy). Child Study and Treatment Center (CSTC) is a State and Federally funded, TJC/CMS accredited, long-term inpatient psychiatric hospital established to treat children and adolescents who cannot be served in less-restrictive settings. CSTC serves children from throughout the State of Washington and is the only State operated children’s psychiatric hospital in Washington.

The core faculty supervisors include the program director/psychologist and the attending psychiatrist. As CSTC is a multi-disciplinary facility there are extensive opportunities to interact with other licensed clinicians and child mental health professionals. The majority of the fellow’s time is spent in clinical duties with children aged 5-12 and their families (Camano Cottage). This clinical component includes groups, individual, family and milieu therapy as well as Treatment Plan Reviews and Team Meetings. The fellow is also provided with time to attend training activities as well as time to study for licensure. Fellows will learn Trauma-Focused CBT (TF-CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (adapted DBT), Developmental Teaching / Therapy and Parent Child Interaction style Therapy (adapted PCIT). Fellows receive two hours of face-to-face supervision weekly.
$55,538 annually plus UW benefits, including vacation leave, sick leave, educational leave as negotiated, and medical insurance.
