Mandy Owens, PhD is one of 20 researchers participating in a pilot program to help UW faculty scientists inform and inspire the public.
The new program, called Research Impact Advocates, is being piloted by the UW Office of Research. It’s intended to support scientists who want to engage more effectively with the public about their work and the evidence behind it. Twenty participants in the inaugural cohort represent 13 colleges and schools. Dr. Owens is one of four researchers from the UW School of Medicine.
Participants will receive a three‑part training from the Alan Alda Center for Communicating Science, a two‑day workshop with The Op‑Ed Project, and media training with UW News.
