Endowed faculty positions such as professorships and chairs provide unique opportunities to help our faculty make advances in patient care, education, and research. We are now happy to begin recruiting for two new endowed positions supported by generous philanthropic support, one with a focus on addiction psychiatry and another with a focus on adult cognitive aging.
K. Warner Schaie Endowed Chair in Adult Cognitive Development
This endowed chair will contribute to the department’s work in developing, testing, and deploying innovative approaches to prevent and treat cognitive decline and to strengthen cognitive resilience. They will provide leadership and mentorship for department faculty, staff, and trainees with an interest in Geriatric Psychiatry and cognitive aging, facilitate productive connections and collaborations with other clinicians and scientists at UW and beyond, and work closely with PBSCI leadership on strategic initiatives related to the department’s work in cognitive aging and Geriatric Psychiatry. Nicole K. Engle Endowed Professorship for Addiction Medicine
The faculty member in this professorship will serve as director of the Division of Addiction Psychiatry. They will be charged with providing leadership for an exceptional clinical, educational, and translational research program focused on improving the lives of individuals and families affected by substance use disorders, adapting or developing preventive or therapeutic approaches and solutions for individuals and families struggling with addiction problems, and facilitating productive collaborations among a diverse group of addiction researchers, clinicians, educators, and policy makers who collectively make up the department’s Division of Addictions. The holder of this position is expected to make significant contributions to teaching and research in this field and to support and facilitate impactful contributions and collaboration of their colleagues. We are also searching for three new acting assistant professors, psychiatrists and/or psychologists with interest in neuromodulation, mental health and the law, or digital innovation and artificial intelligence (AI).
Psychiatrist | Neuromodulation
Faculty recruited in this position will provide clinical care as an attending psychiatrist at UW Medical Center or Harborview Medical Center with a primary focus on neuromodulation services. Psychologist | Digital Innovation and Artificial Intelligence
This is a great opportunity to support the development and implementation of digital tools (e.g., AI-supported assessment, triage, scheduling, or therapy programs) in our clinical programs and to contribute to scholarship and training in the area of digital innovation and artificial intelligence.
