Department news | September 30, 2018

Jessica Jenness, PhD, Acting Assistant Professor in the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, received the NARSAD Young Investigator Grant to supplement a current NIH K23-funded study looking at the neural and behavioral correlates to Behavioral Activation treatment response in depressed teens with maltreatment histories. The Young Investigator Grant will allow Dr. Jenness to collect a depressed-only group of adolescents (no history of maltreatment) and to purchase fitness trackers in order to get more sensitive activity and sleep data across treatment and follow-up. The goal of the Young Investigator program is to help researchers launch independent careers in neuroscience and psychiatry and gather pilot data to apply for larger federal and university grants. The two-year grant is given by the Brain & Behavior Research Foundation and will begin in January, 2019.
