Maryonda Scher, MD, was an early faculty member in the department of psychiatry and behavioral sciences and a long term staff psychiatrist at the former Seattle VA medical center. She died January 31, 2018 after enduring dementia for many of her last years.
“Dr. Scher was recognized as a dedicated teacher, a talented clinician, and a ferocious advocate for her patients and individuals struggling with serious mental illness,” said Richard Veith, MD. “She had a significant impact on several generations of UW medical students, psychiatry residents and junior faculty colleagues during her long and distinguished career.” Read Seattle Times obituary
