Study: Most opioid addicted patients go off meds too soon

New research suggests that a common treatment for opioid addiction might not work as well as it could because of a simple reason. The new study led by Caleb Banta-Green, PhD, found that patients don’t stay on buprenorphine — medication that helps curb cravings for opioids — long enough for the treatment to be effective.
